The restlessness around a woman’s age has never made sense to me. When I was younger, there was simply no logic to the fuss made around how long a woman has been around.
As I got older, I learned about the negative nuances attached to a woman’s age and the hide and seek game women play with their age made a bit more sense.
I understand it now. But I still don’t agree with it. I love getting older. I truly do. A large part of it has to do with my walk with God. The future isn’t so daunting when you’re walking side by side with the One who created time and season.
I also love writing. It’s been a me-thing for as long as I can remember. Something I’ve always known and loved and done a lot of.
Most of these chapters were written in my 20s. Life was different then. So was I. I thought about editing them to reflect my present state of heart and mind. But I would be doing myself and you a huge disservice if I did. They are raw, authentic and beautiful as is. An honest look at landmark moments in the last decade that shaped me into who I am today.
Reading these words in the present makes me even more sure of God’s goodness than I was a decade ago. Isn’t it funny how life works? What seems like a mountain today can end up becoming nothing more than a fleck of dust tomorrow. There are situations I make mention of that clearly impacted me when they happened. But for the life of me, I cannot remember what they are years later. The complete state of blissful ignorance I found myself in as I took a trip down memory lane made me laugh. I’m glad that I carried the lessons with me and not any unnecessary baggage.
If there’s one thing I hope you get out of this book, it’s that life is what you allow God to make it. The past doesn’t have to hold you captive. The present provides a blank canvas each morning waiting for your brush strokes. The future certainly shouldn’t terrify you. Not with the eternal depths of love God has for you.
You are loved. You are free to become all that God intended you to be. Don’t let anyone or anything convince you otherwise. You can choose right now to become the entirety of the woman God sees when He looks at you. Make the leap of faith. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. If indeed, He is your God, it belongs to you too. Your inheritance is waiting on the other side.
If you’ve never known what it’s like to be seen and loved deeply and truly, you’re in the right place. Allow me to introduce you to Jesus. He took on the nature of sin that separated all of humanity from God so you could know who your Father in heaven is and live in the fullness of who He created you to be. All you need to do is believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that He is your Lord and Saviour. Then find a faithful church (more on that in I Am…Christian) and get ready for the ride of a life time. If you’re not sure where to start, you’re welcome to join us at Infinite Fellowship Ministries (infemi.org)
With that, I present to you: I Am…Woman (Volume I). A series of highlights from the last decade or so marking places in my journey of becoming where I found God…and He found me…and life was never the same.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
P.S. Before you ask – yes, there will most definitely be a Volume II – capturing more of my 30s. It’s already in the works.
